Record Video with Kaltura Capture

Quick Directions

  1. Launch Kaltura Capture
  2. Choose recording mode to begin recording
  3. Kaltura Capture will show a countdown, then maintain a toolbar as you record.
  4. When done recording, click the stop icon.
  5. Save and Upload when your video is ready

Detailed Directions

Launch Kaltura Capture

After you install Kaltura Capture, you can record new media in two ways.

  • Option 1: Launch Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder from your list of programs. Alternately, you can use the desktop shortcut that may have been created when you installed the software. 

  • Option 2: Launch the Kaltura Capture recorder when logged in to Blackboard. Visit your Kaltura My Media page, then click "Add New" in the upper right portion of the screen, and select "Kaltura Capture." This will launch the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder.

 

Record Using Kaltura Capture

Launch Kaltura Capture, then...

  1. Choose your recording configuration (screen, webcam, audio, etc.).
  2. In screen recording mode, if you selected "Select Area", you will need to select the area size and position the area shape over the part of your screen you wish to record.
  3. Once you begin recording, a countdown will launch and a control widget will appear.
  4. When you are done recording, click the square stop icon. Confirm if you want to end the recording. A preview of your video will open. Here you can review your video and make edits to the title, description, and tags.
  5. Edit title and other information as necessary.
  6. Complete your recording in one of the following ways:
    • Recommended: Click Save & Upload to immediately send video to server. The media will be available in your Kaltura Media on Blackboard
    • Click Delete if you want to erase the recording permanently. It cannot be restored if you click Delete.
    • Click Save to save a copy of the video on your computer without uploading. You can use the Go to Library link in Kaltura Capture to preview, delete, or upload this media to the server at any time.
