Tips for Testing in Blackboard
Technology and Browser Recommendations
- Be sure your Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable or better, use a wired connection for Internet.
- Use Chrome or Firefox on a laptop or desktop computer to take quizzes, tests and exams. Mobile devices are strongly discouraged for testing as they often limit access to test content or result in failed attempts.
- Turn off all pop-up blockers
- Make sure Java is updated
Before the Test
- Read through all test information such as availability dates, time limitations, allowable materials and so one. Have a clear picture of the conditions under which you'll take the exam.
- Make a plan to take your test or exam, and then make a backup plan. Something always happens.
- Leave yourself enough time to complete the exam. Don't wait until the last minute.
Taking the test
- Save answers as you go. Make sure you save EVERY answer before moving on to the next question.
- Don't click submit more than once
- Don't double click any buttons in the exam
- Keep only one Blackboard session tab open at a time. In other words, do not have the exam in one tab and another open for course navigation.
- If you lose your Internet connection during a test, do not close your browser window.
- Try to re-establish the internet connection first, then complete the test and try to submit it.
- Print a copy of the submission confirmation page that appears as verification if possible, then contact your instructor.
- Contact your instructor if you are unable to submit the exam.
