Online courses? Hybrid? Enhanced?
MHCC uses several terms to describe courses that are offered online or partially online.
Online course
Online (web) courses are fully online with no scheduled seat time on campus. Section numbers are indicated with a W.
Hybrid course
A hybrid course is a blend of scheduled on-campus and online time. Section numbers are indicated with an H. Hybrid courses can range anywhere from having a single required on-campus meeting to weekly on-campus meetings. Before registering for any hybrid course, check your schedule to confirm you are able to attend all scheduled on-campus class times.
Face-to-face course
Face-to-face courses (abbreviated as f2f) are traditional classes in which students and teacher meet together in a classroom according to a specified schedule. These are numbered sections, 01, 02, 03 etc.
Enhanced course
Enhanced courses are traditional f2f courses with campus meetings that have some online components. Many instructors teaching f2f courses use Blackboard to manage a variety of course features. Some instructors keep it simple, using only the grade center and announcements. Others use Blackboard for presentations, tutorials, handouts, assignment submissions, or quizzing. If your instructor uses Blackboard to enhance your f2f course, it's important to log in to your online section regularly to see updates and information as well as to access content and complete any coursework.
